Military Industrial Engineering

The joint study program of the master's academic studies "Military Industrial Engineering" of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Kragujevac and the Military Academy of the University of Defense in Belgrade contains all the elements determined by law.
The study program "Military Industrial Engineering" is a master's program of academic studies that lasts one year, has a total of 60 ECTS credits. The academic title that students acquire upon completion of this study program is "Master Engineer of Industrial Engineering".
Candidates are enrolled on the basis of a joint competition announced by the implementers of the joint study program. The conditions for enrollment in the study program and other most important elements of the study program and study regime are prescribed by the Statute of the Faculty of Engineering, the Statute of the Military Academy and the Rulebook on the regime of basic and master academic studies of the Faculty of Engineering. The conditions for enrollment are the completion of a four-year high school and passing the entrance exam in mathematics. The order of candidates for enrollment is determined on the basis of the general success achieved in secondary education and the results achieved at the entrance exam. The study program prescribes compulsory and elective courses. Also, the study program envisages professional practice, study research work on the theoretical basis of the final (master) work and preparation of the final (master) work.
A list of subjects is given in the Student Guide, and a more detailed description is available in the Course Book.
The aim of the study program is to enable the master engineer of industrial engineering to integrate and apply the acquired knowledge and specific cognitive and intellectual skills in a multidisciplinary context in solving both trivial engineering problems and more demanding research and development problems. This level of study implies a narrower specialization, which is acquired by a certain choice (recommended or arbitrarily chosen) of a group of subjects from a wider elective area of the curriculum subject (a wider set of possible competencies / specializations is offered).
The goal is to enable the student by attending the study program to:
considers technical-technological and scientific issues from practice, understands problems, formulates them and communicates them to others,
analyzes engineering and technological problems and proposes a solution,
understand the impacts and relationships between the design concept and the product life cycle,
adequately inform, in writing as well as verbally adequate technical language and terminology, through results and examples from practice, about the advantages of new ideas and innovations,
communicates with his work environment in his mother tongue and English,
independently expands and applies the acquired knowledge,
gain insight into complex decision-making processes,
develop a confident, impartial and research approach to studying the problem,
gain insight into aspects of long-term development,
works in a team and / or leads a team,
gain insight into the ethical aspects of the engineering profession,
gain insight into the structure and functioning of the company through the current economic and sociological relations and the established quality of administration (management),
be aware of the possible implications of his professional activities on safety, ecology, etc.,
works in an international environment (through the expansion of their own social, cultural frameworks, language and communication skills - which are acquired both through teamwork of students and through study stays abroad),
understands the effects of new developments in technology and science on the work environment, society, but also the environment,
acquire the necessary deductive skills,
acquire representative knowledge of engineering and technological disciplines, methods and tools, with emphasis on mathematical modeling and systems approach,
acquires the ability to design and perform experiments, as well as the ability to analyze and present results,
governs an abstract way of thinking that can be easily applied to a particular case,
operational management of system engineering techniques, which include starting from market-oriented needs, functional-technical specifications, conceptual technical solutions, and include iterative design procedures, ie. analysis, synthesis, optimization, construction, testing (eg simulation) and evaluation.
One of the special goals, which is in line with the goals of educating experts at the Military Academy of the University of Defense, is to develop students' awareness of the need for personal contribution to the development of the defense system and society as a whole.
By mastering the study program, the student acquires the following general competencies:
governs the extended and deepened fundamental knowledge acquired in basic academic studies, which provides the basis and opportunity for original development and / or application of ideas, often in a research context,
applies knowledge, understands the studied phenomena, acquires skills for solving engineering problems in a new or unknown environment within a broader or multidisciplinary context of a specialized field of study,
applies complex methods, instruments and devices relevant to the field of industrial engineering, as a basis for scientific and applied research,
has developed communication skills and dexterity skills and the international environment,
understands the principles of analysis, synthesis and prediction of solutions and consequences, so that he is able to communicate his own conclusions, clearly based on rational reasons and operational knowledge, clearly and unambiguously to professionals in the field and those who are not,
masters the skills of learning and adopting new methodologies and concepts, so that it can largely independently direct, organize and achieve the expansion of acquired knowledge and competencies regardless of the continuation of their formal education.
By mastering the study program, the student acquires the following subject-specific competencies:
thorough knowledge and understanding of the peculiarities of military-industrial engineering,
ability to solve specific problems using scientific methods and procedures,
ability to work independently in research, development, design and maintenance of weapons systems integrated on mobile platforms,
ability to work independently in research, development, design and maintenance of weapons systems, ammunition and military equipment,
possession of knowledge about the conditions and mechanisms of explosive decomposition and properties of explosive substances,
mastery of instrumental techniques for monitoring the corrosion rate of metals in laboratory and field conditions,
the ability to integrate knowledge and use it in a complex problem environment, to formulate correct judgments and conclusions and on the basis of incomplete or limited information, but including in all this a reflection of built social and ethical responsibilities,
monitoring and application of innovations in the field of military-industrial engineering,
ability to use information and communication technologies in mastering knowledge in the field of military-industrial engineering.
